OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT
As a small boutique distillery based in the sunny suburbs of Brisbane, we care about the impact we have on our local neighbours, our region, and our country.
That’s why we take ownership of our environmental footprint. We are committed to quality and sustainability. All our bottling, labelling, packaging and posting is done by hand.
We proactively adopt best practices on two measurable key performance indicators:
SOURCING SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
Drunk Monk Distillery has excellent green credentials. We source all our raw materials from local suppliers, who are independently evaluated. We are pleased to report that currently 98% of the raw materials used in the production of every bottle of our Signature Gin meets the requirements of the global framework and Codes of Good Practice for effective sustainability systems.
We source everything locally wherever possible. Our juniper berries are supplied by a wholesaler in Brisbane. We also have a variety of botanicals in the mix from different suppliers. We are proud to partner with and support a 100% Australian Indigenous-owned business: our water is sourced from an indigenous community in Western Australia. Our fabulous gin bottles are not imported – they are manufactured in South Australia. Our labels are printed and produced on the Gold Coast, and even our packing and mailing boxes are locally made in Brisbane.
REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT FROM ENERGY USE
We work with all our energy suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint. We have an active work plan to operate our business towards net-negative carbon emissions by the end of 2023. We monitor our energy consumption and use solar and energy storage technologies to power our business. We also purchase carbon credits from reputable market providers.
